SPL Predictions: Can Ross County protect unbeaten run v Celtic?

We were off the mark with our winning bets last week. Albeit we won £13 after spending a tenner, but we're only just back from pre-season, we need time to gel before we hit the back of the net more regularly.

However, a cheeky £2 on the Edinburgh derby finishing 1-1 gave us a small profit.

This week we've another derby as Dundee United host Dundee. After a fairly comfortable win at Dens Park in pre-season, the Terrors will be confident going into this but it was pre-season afterall and Dundee didn't even know if they were an SPL team or not by that point.

However, the Dark Blues have found it tough so far in the top flight. An inspired Rab Douglas performance between the sticks got them a point at Rugby Park on day one, but St Mirren - as predicted by us - handed them their first defeat last weekend.

That leaves Dundee looking for their first win, and they're unlikely to find it against Peter Houston's men who are smarting after the drubbing they received by Dynamo Moscow, and haven't had the chance to get it out of their systems because their game with Celtic was switched.

Therefore, look for United to take all three points at a packed Tannadice, especially with the likes of Gary Mackay-Steven and Jon Daly beginning the season in great form.

The Away End  are adding the United game to our treble, which is actually quite ambitious this week as shown by the odds. St Johnstone will be tough to beat again this season, and they're up against an Aberdeen side who have actually played well so far but have failed to find the net yet.

However, it's hard to see the Dons going a third game without scoring, and with a solid defence they look good to edge this one.

Completing the treble, look for Kilmarnock to surprise Motherwell with a home win. The Steelmen don't look quite as sharp as they did last season, while Kenny Shiels has had the Rugby Park outfit playing some decent stuff and their performances probably deserve more than the two points they've got.

A £5 treble with Ladbrokes on Dundee United, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock will net you a handsome £63.79.

Ross County have went an incredible 36 league games undefeated, but will put that record to the test against Celtic at the weekend. The Hoops were lacklustre at the start of the season but started looking more like their old selves in the second leg of their Champions League qualifier with Helsinki.

Celtic should win, but it's going to be a tight one. Therefore, we're spreading our bets across some scorecasts, confident one of them will come in. We're going for a range of 1-0 and 2-0 scorelines, with Gary Hooper, Anthony Stokes and on-form Kris Commons the likely candidates to get the opening strike.
